Wilderness Safety Workshop

Learn the basics of outdoor safety in this workshop presented by Nikki Taylor, the founder of the outdoor education organization Way Out Wild.

You will learn the fundamentals of staying safe and prepared in the outdoors, focusing on the Ten Essentials. We’ll cover how to plan ahead, manage risk, and make confident decisions on the trail. This workshop also introduces basic navigation awareness, emergency preparedness, and how to respond to common outdoor situations. The goal is to leave you feeling more confident, capable, and ready to explore safely.

About the presenter
Way Out Wild is a women-led outdoor education organization based in Southern California, focused on building confidence, community, and leadership through outdoor experiences. Founded by Marguerite “Nikki” Taylor, WOW offers hiking, camping, backpacking, and educational programs designed to make the outdoors more accessible and empowering. Nikki has over 15 years of experience recreating outdoors, has led Way Out Wild as a community for the past 3 years, and has been guiding and instructing for over 6 years. She is a Wilderness First Responder and a Leave No Trace Certified Trainer, bringing a strong foundation of safety, education, and stewardship into every program.
