Join the Friends of the Altadena Library at its annual meeting in person at the Altadena Community Center, including a talk with Steve Crowder, who will discuss Paradise’s rebuild after the 2018 fire.

Join the Friends of the Altadena Library (FOAL) at its annual meeting in person at the Altadena Community Center. FOAL will present its contribution to the library and propose the slate of new board members. Only members can vote for officers and board members, but everyone is invited to attend this event. Space is limited and registration required. Register here. If you have a specific question or topic, please submit through the registration form by May 29.

Voting will be followed by a talk with Steve Crowder, who will discuss the status of Paradise’s rebuild after the 2018 fire including when library services resumed.

About the Speaker

Steve Crowder moved to Paradise, California, in 2013 with his family in search of a slower, mountain lifestyle and quickly became deeply involved in the community he now leads. 

A former business owner and City Council member, Mayor Crowder has become a widely respected voice on resilience and recovery following the devastating 2018 Camp Fire, the deadliest wildfire in California history. Under his leadership, Paradise has continued its steady rebuilding efforts while maintaining the strong community spirit for which the town is known.

Mayor Crowder has also been a compassionate advocate for communities recovering from disaster, offering guidance, hope, and support to fire-impacted communities across California, including his friendship with former Altadena Town Council Chair Victoria Knapp following the devastating Eaton Fire.
